I am a birth doula, training with Birth Arts International, and a postpartum doula, training with Childbirth International. I am also beginning the Stillbirthday Birth and Bereavement Doula training in February, to provide more comprehensive services to those mothers and families who are facing a loss. I am interested in working as an adoption doula, as well, because I actually considered adoption when I was pregnant with my daughter. Her father had left me when I found out I was pregnant, and I went through the pregnancy alone, though I did have the support of my family and some friends. I had severe postpartum depression and when my daughter was 6 weeks old, I seriously began looking into placing her for adoption. Though I ultimately decided to parent her, I still hold a special place in my heart for birth mothers and adoptive families. I would love to provide the support these families needed during such an intense transition in their lives.
